Artist's statement

The beginning of my work is material driven: I let the pigments guide me. But when the symbols start emerging out of shapes, colors and textures, I let them fully materialize.

My fine art practice is an ever lasting experiment on the matter of visual perception.

Biography

Alexandra Michurina (born 1993) is a mixed media artist who lives and works in West Munich. She holds a Ph.D. degree in neuroscience obtained at German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Göttingen.

Her expressionistic style attempts to grasp visions hidden in the unconsciousness in a semi-abstract manner, involving vivid color language and intuitive mark making. Dynamic lines and bold strokes in Alexandra’s graphical artwork captures deeper nature of the familiar objects.

She is currently studying at Freie Kunstwerkstatt München.
